Q: Describe where Dr. Rev. James worked and what they did
A: Dear family and friends of Reverend James Gabhart,
My wife, Donna, and I have attended First Baptist Church (now known as Open Bible Church) in Chesterton, In since 1991.
I found a copy of a church bulletin from Reverend Gabhart’s time in Chesterton and wanted to share this picture from inside the bulletin.
The bulletin is dated: April 14, 1974.
Our Pastor, Larry Starett, informed our church members and friends of Reverend Gabhart’s recent passing.
In Christ’s Love,
Tony and Donna Dujmovich

Another one just joined Heaven's Hero's!
Pastor Gabhart was a man's man! A war hero. A great musician. A heart for people and one of the finest preachers.
I just learned that at 92 blest years; he has passed on! A man any child would open their hearts and ears to.. He was a man that would take his time to carefully take that small moment and seed God's Spirit so kindly into any conversation, ear and soul. He had visual illustrations that were so colorfully laid out; I personally felt as if I could see the entire scene; smell the air and was on the journey. He was a man so kind that he took time for anyone and delivered his entire attention. If asked he would offer the most Godly advice with a kind; generous helping. I remember his smile when he Baptized me; so genuine; caring and kind.
I remember to this day how he loved my father and my father loved him. The respect my father had with Pastor was like none I had ever seen and my father had many great male friendships. They had so much care and respect for each other and their conversations; many had while I was by dad's side as I listened, noted and waited.
I remember communion at our church; and after 16 years of Pastor Gabhart's communions; honestly; it shouldn't be done differently.
No matter how many times he told war stories from the pulpit; they were always exciting and a lesson remembered to this day.
Thank you for not only telling us about Christ and His love for us all; but thank you for SHOWING us!
Pastor Gabhart was HEROIC!
Della Myers and Dave Myers my deepest condolences!

I was afforded a great privilege to serve the Pulaski Memorial Hospital patients and staff with brother Jim for many years. After his retirement, we talked about the fact that a preacher never really "retires". As he would take his regular walks by our house we would always speak to each other. May his kind grow in number for our communities. What a good example of a godly person.
