Obituary of Darrel G. Erb

Darrel G. Erb, 72, lifelong resident and farmer of rural Francesville, IN passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022.  He was born November 16, 1949 in Lafayette, IN to the late Neil V. and Melba Ruth [Long] Erb.  Darrel graduated with the final class from Francesville High School in 1967.

Darrel’s first job out of high school was working at the Monon stone quarry.  He worked full time at Monon Trailer for nearly 20 years until taking over the family farm in the mid 80’s. 

Darrel was an avid collector of toy tractors.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing golf.  He coached his son’s baseball teams and supported his grandchildren in all of their activities.

Darrel was a father-figure to many who valued his advice.  He loved his family very much, especially his sons to whom he imparted much wisdom.  Darrel will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM EDT Monday, July 11, 2022 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM EDT Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN with Brian Huber officiating.

Burial will take place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Rensselaer Knights of Columbus Council #1881.
