Obituary of Chester Eugene Hintz

Chester Eugene “Chet” Hintz, 82, of Medaryville, IN (formerly of Fortine, MT) passed away at home on January 13, 2022.  He was born on May 7, 1939 in McLeansboro, IL to the late Edward Stanley and Frieda Geraldine [Ledbetter] Hintz.  Chet served in the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal from 1956-1960.  After receiving an honorable discharge, he went to work as a union pipefitter.  Chet was a proud member of the Medaryville American Legion Post #96 and Chicago Pipe Fitters Union Local #597.

On October 31, 1996, Chet married Diane Susan Matthies in Las Vegas, NV.  They enjoyed 25 years of marriage together.  Chet always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as being outdoors.  He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be from 1-3 PM EST Friday, January 21, 2022 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville, IN. 

Services will be held at 3 PM EST Friday, January 21, 2022 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville, IN with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. 

The American Legion will conduct Military Honors at the funeral home following services.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Memorial Swinging Bridge Project.
