Thomas Girton

Thomas R. “Tom” Girton, 60, of Monterey, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.  He was born on June 24, 1962 in Winamac, IN to Albert R. and Elnora A. [Walters] Girton.  Tom graduated from Culver Community High School in 1982.  He served 6 years in the Indiana Army National Guard.  On June 5, 1982, Tom married his high school sweetheart Julie A. Hulmes in Monterey.  Together they raised two wonderful children.

Tom worked at Whitley Products in Plymouth, IN for almost 25 years.  He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey.  Tom was a soccer, baseball, and basketball coach/umpire/referee and also served as President of Culver Little League for several years.

Tom was a man of many talents and skills.  He enjoyed creating trails on the 17 acres of land where he built his self-designed dream home.  If he wasn’t in the barn tinkering, Tom could be found out in the woods riding his Gator with the grandkids.  He was the proud two-time winner of the Monterey Christmas Parade.
